Playa San Rafael
One of the most impressive beaches in the Dominican Republic, with its unique and spectacular landscape.

It is a private residence, created in 1970 by Mr. Nabij Khoury, a Lebanese merchant and industrialist based in Barahona, Dominican Republic.
Villa Miriam was named in honor of his wife Miriam; Dominican whom I love and with whom I lasted 58 years married.

Villa Miriam was his creation, his rest home for 30 years and he said:
“Villa Miriam is a paradisiacal place where I am transported to my childhood years in my native Lebanon.”

So you will meet this Charming house where we can find a series of pools fed by the San Rafael River that run along the property, sprouting from the lush hills of the area.

Playa De Los Patos
Like most of Barahona's beaches, this one has rocks instead of sand, and is popular with surfers, who come to enjoy the fast breaking waves. On the other side of the beach is the Río Los Patos, where a wide natural pool attracts locals who come here to swim and spend a fun afternoon by the river and near the beach.

Parque Eolico Los Cocos
Rising to the height of a 40-story building, it is almost impossible to understand the magnitude of these wind turbines until you pass very close on the Pedernales highway. Los Cocos Wind Farm is not only the largest in the Caribbean and Central America, but it is also the first in the Dominican Republic connected to the national grid. With a capacity of 77 megawatts, its 40 wind turbines generate enough energy to keep a million light bulbs lit. Visit this wind farm and learn how it works on a one-hour tour.
